I shall now consider the measured distances of the transverse line intersections with the horizontal and vertical lines of the rectangle, in order to verify the divisions proposed by Borchardt. From his diagram we see that Borchardt does not define "a" and "b" according to the half length and half width of the ellipse, as is customarily done, but applies the designations instead to the corresponding dimensions of the rectangle.
He then shows the intersections of the ellipse with the rectangle as ratios of "a" and "b," a/2 and a/3, respectively.
The half horizontal distance "a," is 1.387 cubits. The half vertical distance "b" is 0.847 cubits.
